• Most Kodi skins require your local library integration for home screen display. On first startup, the Arctic Horizon home screen will be blank if you haven’t import your movie and TV shows collection to Kodi, if you haven’t and don’t know how to do so, you can learn from our guide on how to add local library to Kodi.
• To setup Arctic Horizon skin, you should hit the cog icon from the main screen and go to Skin Settings. The following setups all take place in Skin Settings menu.
• The setup guide in the following will focus on hubs, spotlight and widgets configurations. Appearance, layouts, color scheme, sorting, etc. are more of subjective preferences so I’ll just leave them to you.
Let’s start with Hubs, which refer to the home menu items (shortcuts) you can access from the left pane in home screen. Though the default hubs should suffice for average usage, we can add more hubs if we want to, and we can also use them as shortcut to any directory in Kodi.
To setup main menu items, go to Skin settings > Home > Customize home menu. Highlight a main menu shortcut and you can click the buttons on it to remove it, position it or add a new menu shortcut subsequent to it. And you can customize the labels, icons and more for menu shortcuts on the right side.
After you create a menu shortcut, it’s vital to assign an action for it. Click Choose item for menu so you can link a shortcut to a directory from an addon, a playlist from an addons or your favorite Trakt lists, to access from home screen.
Widgets configuration can be really important especially when you don’t have a local movies/TV shows library, because we can add movies and TV shows from video addons to Arctic Horizon home screen, for spotlight display. The common usage of widgets is shortcuts that link to playlists from video addons (if you haven’t got any good addons installed on Kodi, check out the last section of this guide).
To setup widgets, go to Skin settings > Home > Customize home menu. Highlight an existing menu item, and select Widget on the right side to configure widgets for it. There are two major view type of widgets called Widgets Home and Widgets Fullscreen and Hub.
Choose the preferred view type for every hubs and add widgets to them to make them work.
Widgets home: Added shortcuts will present movies and TV shows in lineups from a hub. While browsing, you can scroll left and right for different titles, up and down for different lists.
Widgets fullscreen and hub: Added shortcuts will present movies and TV shows from the playlist in the fullscreen spotlight, and you can click in to see more info or scroll left or right for other titles.
You can create multiple widgets that link to different playlists from addons to display lists in parallel rows from hubs. However, too many widgets may bog down your Kodi and three would be the best amount of widgets for each sub.
Submenu in Arctic Horizon are the submenus that can expand from a home menu item. There are three different ways to display submenus in the skin: Submenu Widget, Submenu Popup, and Submenu/Showcase Hub.
Submenu widgets can be added/customized from Skin settings> Home > Customize home menu > Widgets > Choose Widget > Special Widgets > Submenu
We recommend you to give these addons a go as they deliver incomparable using and viewing enjoyment when used with Kodi skins. If you’re interested in any of them, hit the addon’s name for the installation guideline.
