The only solution is to first convert these DVD files into a Chromecast-compatible format, such as MP4 (H.264/AAC).

Can I Cast a DVD to Chromecast?

Yes, but not directly.

Chromecast supports only a limited number of digital formats. And DVD files, including the discs, ISO images, and VOB files, are not supported. But you can convert your DVD files to one of the Chromecast supported formats so it can be cast via Chromecast to your TV for smooth playback.

Steps to Convert DVD to Chromecast Supported Format

Load DVD (ISO/DVD Folder) into the Program

Step 1: Load DVD (ISO/DVD Folder) into the Program

Insert a DVD disc into your computer first.

Launch the program. Click DVD Disc, select the DVD you just inserted, and click OK. The program will start loading all available DVD titles into the program with the main title auto selected.

Select a Chromecast-friendly Format

Step 2: Select a Chromecast-friendly Format

Click on the Output Format section on the right side of the interface. Under the Video tab, you can select H264 as your output format. This preset is an optimized video profile that uses the MP4 container format with the H264 video encoder and the AAC audio converter, and it’s the most recommended video setting by Chromecast.

Alternatively, you can click on the Google device section to directly select Chromecast as your output preset.

Begin the DVD-to-Chromecast Conversion

Step 3: Begin the DVD-to-Chromecast Conversion

Click the three dots at the bottom to set the output path for the converted files. Click RUN to start converting the DVD for casting with Chromecast.

Part 2: Stream Converted DVD to TV via Chromecast

After getting the Chromecast-ready DVD files, you can cast them to your TV directly from your Chrome browser. Here is how:

Step 2: Drag the converted DVD video to a new browser tab.

💡 Besides using the Chrome browser, you can also use VLC Player or Plex Media Server to cast video files to your TV via Chromecast.

Note:
1. Your computer (or tablet/smartphone) and your TV must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
2. Most modern TVs (such as Google TV and Android TV) feature built-in Chromecast capabilities. But if your TV does not support Chromecast natively, please ensure that you have connected an external Chromecast device to your TV for proper video casting.
