How to Convert PREL to MP4, AVI, MOV, etc. for Video Playback and Sharing

PREL file, using .prel as file extension, is a video project file created with Adobe Premiere Elements, a non-linear video editing program for Windows; contains a timeline, multiple audio and video tracks, video effects, and other settings; includes references to audio and video files rather than the media itself. Since PREL files are not actual media/video files, you cannot open them on any media platforms or media player programs.

To open and play PREL file, you need to convert PREL to actual video formats like MP4, which is an industrial standard video format with great compatibility. Sure, for a variety of different purposes, containers like MKV, MOV, WMV, AVI, WebM can also be a good choice.

However, if you actually have a try on those PREL to MP4 converters you find on the internet, you’ll realize they’re nothing more than gimmicks. The only PREL converter can only be Adobe editing programs that recognize PREL project like Premiere Elements.

In the following, I’ll show you how to convert PREL to MP4 with Premiere Elements 2020.

Step 1. Launch Adobe Premiere Elements. Click File tab on the upper-left side to open the PREL files you intend to convert to MP4.

Step 2. Click Export and Share from the upper-right side of the interface.

Step 3. From Quick Export, Adobe Premiere Elements will export the project video as MP4 by default. Define the File Name and Destination folder. Then click Save on the lower-right side.
