For various reasons, many people would like to extract subtitle from MP4.  It is common to see there are many subtitle extractors for MKV on the market while few for MP4. Therefore, I am writing this article to introduce three practical tools personally tried before to extract subtitles from MP4 easily as well as how to use them.

Q: "I got an assignment of retrieving subtitles from an MP4 file with English, French and Spanish closed captions and subtitles. Someone recommended MKVToolNix for this work but it does not work for me. Anything on the subs extraction would be greatly appreciated."

Sometimes, you may want to extract subs from MP4 files for a variety of reasons. There are all sorts of subtitle extraction tools on the market now, however, most of them are only for extracting subtitles from MKV videos and they would fail in extracting SRT from MP4 because they cannot support MP4 format or have not been updated for a long term.
