MPEG-2, or H.222/H.262, is a standard for "the generic coding of moving pictures and associated audio information." It is a successor to MPEG-1, with higher image quality and higher bitrates. Yet, compared with the newer H.264 and H.265, it is a rather outdated codec.
The MPEG2 file alone is not commonly seen anywhere. Some devices, such as Sony, Samsung, and other Android TVs, have evolved to exclude the support for MPEG2 video natively. However, it is still in wide use because the DVD-Video standard uses MPEG-2 video. And I assume the reason you still hold MPEG2 files is that you want to make them into DVDs so that you can watch them on TVs or other DVD players. Hence today, I will share with you a simple method of making playable DVDs from MPEG-2 files. Just read this article and learn how to burn MPEG-2 to DVD without any hassle.

Before doing any DVD burning, there are several things you need to prepare. Firstly, you will need a computer with a disc drive. Then you have to procure a blank DVD (Check How to Choose a Blank DVD?) to which the MPEG2 files can be burnt. Finally, the DVD burning software.
There are many useful DVD burners out there. But here, I will stick to the classic DVDStyler, a cross-platform open-source freeware that is designed for making professional-looking DVDs that can be played on any standalone DVD player. With it, you can not only convert MPEG-2 to DVD but also create your own DVD menus. Now, follow the instructions below and start burning MPEG2 to DVD.
Step 1. Download and install the correct version of DVDStyler on your computer from the official DVDstyler website https://www.dvdstyler.org/en/downloads.
Step 2. Insert a blank disc into your computer.
Step 3. Launch DVDStyler. A welcome dialog will pop up asking you to create a new project. You can follow the options it gives you, such as disc label, disc capacity (should match the optical disc you inserted), video format (PAL or NTSC), and aspect ratio (16:9 for widescreen TVs and 4:3 for old TVs), to customize your own project. Then click “OK.”
Step 4. Next, select a template for your DVD menus from the listed items below. Or click “No template” if you want to make menus of your own.
Step 5. Now you’ve come to the main workspace where you can edit the menus as you want. You can personalize all the elements presented on the menu screen, such as the background, the object, and the buttons. Right-click on the item you want to edit and click “Properties…” to change its parameters as you like.
Step 5. Next, click the “Add File…” button over the top-left corner of the menu screen to load the MPEG-2 video into the DVDStyler. You will see the video displayed as Title 1.
Step 6. When everything is ready, click the orange Burn button (next to the Add file button). Then check whether the disc drive is right. Finally, click “Start” to begin MPEG2 to DVD conversion.
That’s all for how to burn MPEG2 to DVD. Hope you’ll find this article helpful. Thanks for reading!
