Step 1. Insert your DVD into your computer’s DVD-ROM.

Step 5. Next, click Browse to set an output folder and rename your output file. Make sure that the file extension is .avi.
Step 6. Finally, hit Start to begin to rip DVD to AVI.
Tips: The process will take some time depending on the size of your DVD and your computer’s condition. You can see how much of the DVD is converted at the video progress bar.
It happens that VLC won’t rip your DVD sometimes or give you a scrambled/choppy/incomplete output file. The causes of these errors are varied. But there are some tricks you can try to fix them.
If the error persists, your DVD could be the problem. Check whether your DVD is scratched or damaged. If your DVD is purchased from a store, the DRM protection could also be the culprit.
