When iPad 2 released on March 2, 2011, Jobs had ever said that 2011 will be the year of iPad 2. It's not just some kind of joke. iPad 2 maybe just the hottest high tech digital product around the world. But the competitors would like to do something to share the market. Motorola is such an example and released its first tablet - Xoom.
The Motorola Xoom is an Android-based tablet computer. Xoom was released earlier than iPad on February 24, 2011. The Xoom was said awesome and priced a little bit higher than following iPad 2. CNET.com named it the "Best of the CES" 2011. But it's really hard to judge which one is better between the Xoom and iPad 2. Then, let's see some brief analyses and have your own ideas.
Android 3.0 VS iOS 4.3
The Android 3.0 supports multiple tabs replace browser windows and a new "incognito" mode allows anonymous browsing while iOS 4.3 provides faster Safari browser through Nitro JavaScript.
The Android 3.0 contains and supports lots of apps while iOS 4.3 update the iTunes for home sharing.
The Android 3.0 provides high security process for enterprise users while iOS 4.3 updated a Personal Hotspot for personal using.
But the Android supports 3D image effect and perfect multitasking which are weak for iOS. Android 3.0 supports flash which is just out of the support of iOS.
Then, base on the data of operating system, Motorola Xoom seems better and powerful than Apple iPad 2 personally.
The display of Motorola Xoom is 10.1 inches with the resolution 1280*800 and the aspect ratio setting - 16:9; but the iPad 2 is just with 9.7 inches display, 1024*768 resolution, and 4:3 aspect ratio. And for camera, Xoom totally win. The Motorola Xoom is with 5MP rear facing camera and 2MP front facing camera. But the iPad 2 is just with 0.7MP rear facing camera and 0.3MP front facing camera.
Base on the data above, Motorola seems better and more powerful than iPad 2. But the iPad 2 is still hot and the industry technics is much better than other competitors.
