My Beautiful Girl, Mari is an animated film directed by Lee Sung-gang. It was released in Korea in January 11, 2002. The film tells the fantasy story of a young boy who enters a dream world after entering an old lighthouse, in which he meets a mysterious girl named Mari. Their love story begins.

Yobi, The Five Tailed Fox

This is another fantasy South Korean animated film directed by Lee Sung-gang, premiered in January 25, 2007. Yobi is a kumiho (nine-tailed fox) at the age of 100, but actually equivalent to a 10-year-old human child. One day, the simple and innocent little kumiho meets a boy named Geum-ee and falls in love with him. However, the boy lives in the human world. In order to get close to Geum-ee, Yobi goes to the place where he lives and begins to associate with human beings with curiosity.   

Seoul Station

Seoul Station is a disaster animated film written and directed by Yeon Sang-ho. It was released in South Korea in August 18, 2016. Being set as the prequel of Train to Busan, this animated film tells what has happened at the outset before the zombie epidemic event on Busan. At Seoul Station after sunset, the infected street sleepers turn into terrible zombies. The virus begins to spread rapidly from Seoul Station. Soon, the whole street is full of madmen. The government announces that the whole area is closed. People who have not been attacked want to escape, but have nowhere to go.

Oseam

Oseam means five-year-old temple in English. This is an old yet meaningful Korean animated film released in 2003 and directed by Sung Baek-yeop. Based on a novel authored by Jeong Chae-bong, it follows the story the five-year-old boy Gilson and his blind old sister Gami for looking for their mother.   

Wonderful Days

Wonderful days, also known as Sky Blue, is set in 2142. In that time, the environment of human beings is constantly damaged because of the serious pollution of war and industry, and the survivors are all in the struggle for a survival. Shua, a young warrior, fights against the dark forces who produce pollutants to gain energy in order to let the girl he loves see the colorful world. Written and directed by Kim Moon-saeng, this film features impressive innovate production techniques. You may give it a shot.

The King of Pigs

Directed by the same director of Seoul Station, The King of Pigs is another thriller animated film centering the story of Kyung-min and his middle school classmate Jong-suk who track back to their gloomy youth together, but uncover a more frightening and sad cruel truth.

A church minister claims to bring hope to people and rebuild their homes as long as they are willing to give money. However, the plan of raising funds is questioned by a town citizen with poor reputation. The Fake is a critical work, satirizing the hypocrisy of the organized religion.

Jang Geum’s Dream

Jang Geum’s Dream is a spinoff from the extremely popular historical drama Dae Jang Geum. The animated version focuses on the childhood of Jang Geum who serves as an apprentice court lady in the Royak Kitchen.
